Now before you think I've lost my marbles, I do
realize that Ceasar is not a Mastiff nor was he a product of my
breeding. However, he was almost whelped here and was definitely
nurtured and raised here and he does not realize that he is different.
Ceasar came to us along with his mother and undersized
brother at just hours old after she had whelped on the cold concrete
floor of the Spokane County Animal Shelter on the Ides of March.
Fortunately, his outcome was much more pleasant than his namesake's.
His mom, Makia, was so skinny that they thought she had weaned
puppies prior to be brought in. They never expected an imminent
delivery!
Unfortunately, Ceasar's little brother was too small
and too cold for me to save him. As much as I tried to get him
warm and going, it just wasn't meant to be. Ceasar, on the other
hand, turned out to be quite the little porker and I ended up
having to limit his time nursing when he got too round to walk.
After he was weaned, he and Makia were altered and
placed in forever homes.
Ceasar was adopted by Cisco and Carrie and then
later was joined by new "sister" Hannah from Gracie's
first litter. We are very thankful that they opened their hearts
for this pound puppy to share.
